Objective To analyze the clinical significance of posterior ankle fixation in the treatment of ankle joint fractures. Methods A total of 50 patients with ankle joint fractures treated at our hospital from July 2016 to July 2023 were selected as the research subjects. The patients were randomly divided into an observation group(25 cases)which underwent posterior ankle fixation after surgery, and a control group(25 cases)which received traditional reduction and immobilization with plaster. The hospitalization time, fracture healing time, excellent rate of efficacy, ankle joint range of motion(dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, inversion, and eversion),and postoperative complications were compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results The hospitalization time and fracture healing time in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The excellent rate of efficacy in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in ankle joint range of motion between the two groups after treatment compared to before treatment(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the observation group showed significantly better ankle joint range of motion in dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, inversion, and eversion(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Posterior ankle fixation can promote early healing of type Ⅲ-Ⅳ ankle joint fractures and improve ankle joint range of motion.
