Objective To evaluate the application value of infrared thermography in the diagnosis and syndrome differentiation of Ankylosing Spondylitis(AS).Methods We retrospectively collected 100 AS patients(50 with kidney deficiency and cold syndrome and 50 with kidney deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome)and 50 healthy people, and collected the clinical information and infrared thermography detection data of the enrolled case samples for statistical analysis. Results There was no statistical significance in erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C reactive protein(CRP)and visual analogue scale(VAS)score of axial joint pain between kidney deficiency and cold syndrome group and kidney deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome group(P>0.05).In addition, the mean temperature and maximum temperature of the back of AS patients with kidney deficiency and cold deficiency syndrome were significantly lower than that of the healthy control group(P<0.01),while the mean temperature and maximum temperature of the back of AS patients with kidney deficiency and damp-heat syndrome were significantly higher(P<0.05).At the same time, the difference between the maximum temperature of the back and the surrounding temperature of AS patients with kidney deficiency and cold deficiency syndrome was significantly smaller(P<0.05),while the temperature difference of AS patients with kidney deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome was similar to that of the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion The back temperature measured by infrared thermography is closely related to TCM syndrome types of AS.Infrared thermography may be of application value and clinical significance in assisting the diagnosis and TCM syndrome differentiation of AS.
