Objective To detect the expression of Claudin-4(Claudin-4)and Matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)in prostate cancer, and to explore the relationship between the expression of Claudin-4 and MMP-9 in prostate cancer with clinical prognosis of cancer. Methods The expression of Claudin-4 and MMP-9 proteins was detected in 85 cases of prostate cancer and 41 cases of prostate hyperplasia using tissue microarray and immunohistochemical methods, and their correlation with clinical pathology,5-year biochemical recurrence rate, and overall survival rate was analyzed. Results The positive rates of Claudin-4 and MMP-9 protein expression in prostate cancer were 64.56%and 58.23%.The positive rates in benign prostatic hyperplasia were 33.33%and 20.00%,respectively,and there was a significant difference(P<0.05).Claudin-4 and MMP-9 protein expression correlated with prostate cancer TNM staging and Gleason score, preoperative PSA,positive resection margin,5-year biochemical recurrence rate and overall survival rate(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between Claudin-4 and MMP-9 protein expression in prostate cancer(P<0.05).Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the increased expression of Claudin-4 and MMP-9 protein were higher than those in the control group about the 5-year biochemical recurrence and overall survival of prostate cancer(P<0.05).Conclusion The high expression of Claudin-4 and MMP-9 protein in prostate cancer is related to the occurrence and development of prostate cancer.
