Objective To discuss the expression of Aquaporin 1(AQP1)in human gallbladder cholesterol stones and its clinical significance. Methods The clinical data of 100 patients who underwent cholecystectomy in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Jiaxing University from January 2021 to January 2022 were collected.According to the pathological diagnosis, the patients were divided into two groups:gallbladder cholesterol stone group and gallbladder polyp group. The immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR were used to detect the relative expression levels of AQP1 in gallbladder epithelial cells, and then the differences in AQP1 expression between the two groups of gallbladder tissues were compared. Results Immunohistochemical results showed that the expression of AQP1 in the gallbladder mucosa of the stone group was significantly lower, while the expression rate of AQP1 in the gallbladder polyp group reached 90%.The relative expression of AQP1 mRNA in the calculus group was significantly lower than that in the gallbladder polyp group(P<0.05).Conclusion The results of this study show that the expression of AQP1 is significantly decreased in the gallbladder of human gallbladder cholesterol stones. This phenomenon may be related to the formation of gallbladder cholesterol stones.
