Objective To explore the application effect of improved single J fishtail ureteral stent in patients with ureteral stones in mid to late pregnancy. Methods 32 patients with mid to late-stage ureteral stones during pregnancy from August 2019 to August 2022 were selected and randomly divided into two groups. The observation group(16 cases)used an improved single J fishtail ureteral stent during ureteral stent placement surgery, while the control group(16 cases)used a conventional double J ureteral stent during ureteral stent placement surgery. All patients completed the ureteral stent symptom questionnaire(USSQ)before and 2 weeks after ureteral stent placement, and the clinical data and surgical outcomes of the two groups of patients were compared. Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of patients in terms of age, gestational age, preoperative BMI,preoperative white blood cells, urine culture and stone location, stone size, and postoperative related complications(P>0.05).After 2 weeks of ureteral stent placement, the USSQ score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with conventional double J stents, the use of modified single J fishtail stents during the stage of ureteral stenting under local anesthesia which was used for ureteral calculi patients during pregnancy significantly reduced SRS,especially urinary tract symptoms.
