Objective To explore the effect of bladder safe volume catheterization on functional rehabilitation of patients with disturbance of consciousness complicated with urinary retention. Methods A total of 40 patients with first disturbance of consciousness complicated with urinary retention who were hospitalized in the rehabilitation department of a tertiary hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were convenient selected and randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, with 20 cases in each group. The experimental group was treated with bladder safety capacity catheterization, and the control group was treated with conventional indwelling catheterization. The bladder safety capacity, residual urine volume, urine routine white blood cell(WBC)count, serum C-reactive protein(CRP)level, urinary tract infection cases and decannulation before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results After 2 weeks of intervention, the bladder safety capacity and decannulation rate of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, and the residual urine volume,WBC count,CRP level and the number of urinary tract infections were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Bladder safe volume catheterization can promote the recovery of bladder function in patients with disturbance of consciousness, reduce residual urine volume, reduce the level of urinary tract infection related indicators in patients with urinary retention, and improve the decannulation rate of patients.
