Objective To investigate the correlation between alexithymia and facial emotion recognition and social functioning in stable schizophrenia.Methods Sixty patients with stable schizophrenia from February 2023 to October 2023 were selected.The Toronto Alexithymia-Sacle-20(TAS-20)was used to assess the level of alexithymia.and the Facial Emotion Recognition Scale(FER)was used to assess the level of facial emotion recognition in patients with stable schizophrenia.The Social Disability Sreening Schedule(SDSS)assessed patients'social functioning.Results Facial emotion recognition scores were negatively correlated with total TAS-20 scores as well as total SDSS scores(P<0.01),and total TAS-20 scores were positively correlated with SDSS scores(P<0.01).Facial emotion recognition ability mediated the relationship between dysfunctional narratives and social functioning(β=-0.410,t=-4.006,P<0.01).Conclusion Social functioning impairment in stable schizophrenic patients is closely related to alexithymia and facial emotion recognition.Facial emotion recognition impairment mediates the relationship between alexithymia and social functioning.
