Objective To analyze the ultrasonic manifestations of intrabiliary mucinous papilloma(IPMN-B)and explore the value of ultrasound in its diagnosis. Methods The ultrasonographic features and clinical data of 8 cases of IPMN-B confirmed by surgery were analyzed retrospectively. Results All 8 cases of IPMN-B had bile duct dilatation not commensurate with obstructive factors,5 cases were confined to the left lobe of the liver,3 cases involved the left and right lobes of the liver,6 cases showed common bile duct dilatation, and 3 cases showed aneurysmal dilation. In 6 cases of dilated bile duct, there were isoechoic papillary flat tumors with clear boundaries and a small amount of color blood flow.Four cases were complicated with intrahepatic bile duct stones. Conclusion The ultrasonic manifestations of IPMN-B have certain characteristics. When bile duct dilatation was not commensurate with obstructive factors, especially upstream and downstream bile ducts are dilated, papillary and flat nodules with clear boundaries are seen in the dilated bile duct and a little color blood flow that should be considered for the diagnosis of IPMN-B.
