Objective To explore the effects of stress levels, job burnout, and mindfulness awareness on the psychological health of police officers. Methods From December 2022 to August 2023,in-service police officers in Hangzhou were selected as research subjects and surveyed using a unified questionnaire on Questionnaire Star, which included a basic information questionnaire, military psychological stress self-assessment questionnaire, mindfulness attention awareness scale, job burnout scale, and mental health (PHQ-9) scale. Results A total of 1259 questionnaires were issued, and 1227 valid questionnaires were collected, with a detection rate of psychological health problems among police officers of 65.0%(797/1227).The scores for psychological stress T value, mindfulness awareness level, job exhaustion, job achievement, job burnout, and PHQ-9 among the police group were 50.01±10.00,55.35±12.24,21.13±6.64,17.16±5.01,38.29±9.60,and 6.94±5.19,respectively.There were differences in psychological stress, mindfulness awareness, job exhaustion, job burnout, and mental health levels between male and female officers(P<0.05).There were differences in psychological stress, mindfulness awareness, job achievement, job burnout, and mental health levels among officers older than 35 years(P<0.05).Multiple comparisons found that police officers of different types and units differed in the six variables(P<0.05).Correlation analysis showed that the psychological stress T value of police officers was positively correlated with the total score of job burnout and PHQ-9(r=0.653,0.825,P<0.01)and negatively correlated with the total score of mindfulness awareness(r=-0.590,P<0.01).The total score of PHQ-9 among police officers was positively correlated with job burnout(r=0.673,P<0.01)and negatively correlated with the total score of mindfulness awareness(r=-0.605,P<0.01).Binary logistic regression showed that the psychological stress T value, total score of job burnout, and total score of mindfulness awareness are statistical factors affecting the mental health status of police officers. Conclusion Stress, job burnout, and mindfulness awareness significantly affect the mental health of police officers.
