Clinical Study of Lateral Needling with Round-Sharp Needle in Treatment of LDH Based on Meridian-Sinew Theory
Objective:To observe the clinical effect of lateral needling with round-sharp needle in treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH)based on meridian-sinew theory.Methods:90 patients with LDH were randomly divided into the round-sharp needle group, the lateral needling with filiform needle group and the conventional filiform acupuncture group, with 30 cases in each group. The round-sharp needle group was intervened by the lateral needling with round-sharp needle(once per three days, twice a week,a total of 4 times),the lateral needling with filiform needle group was intervened by the lateral needling with filiform needle(once per three days, twice a week,a total of 4 times),and the conventional filiform acupuncture group was treated with normal filiform acupuncture(once a day,six times a week,a total of 12 times).Total clinical efficacy was compared among the three groups, and the scores of VAS,JOA and ODI were observed before the treatment and after two weeks of the treatment in the three groups. Results:The scores of VAS and ODI were significantly lower after the treatment than those before the treatment in the three groups, and the improvements in the round-sharp needle group were more significant than those in the other two groups(P<0.05).The JOA scores were higher after the treatment than those before the treatment in the three groups, and the score was higher in the round-sharp needle group than that in the other two groups after the treatment(P<0.05).The total effective rate was 93.3%(28/30)in the round-sharp needle group, which was significantly higher than 66.7%(20/30)in the lateral needling with filiform needle group and 56.7%(17/30)in the conventional filiform acupuncture group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Both round-sharp needling and filiform needling are effective in treatment of LDH.Lateral needling with round-sharp needle is more effective than conventional filiform acupuncture in treatment of LDH based on meridian-sinew theory, which can significantly relieve pain and improve function of lumbar spine with its less needling times and needling frequency.
