Analgesic Effect of Buccal Acupuncture Treating Primary Dysmenorrhea and Its Influence to Serum PGF2α and PGE2
Objective:To explore the analgesic effect of buccal acupuncture in treatment of primary dysmenorrhea and its influence to serum levels of PGF2α and PGE2.Methods:60 patients diagnosed with primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into the buccal acupuncture group and the control group, with 30 cases in each group. The buccal acupuncture group was treated with needling middle-jiao point,lower-jiao point, waist point, and sacral point,30 minutes each time;the control group was treated with Ibuprofen Sustained-Release Capsule(300 mg),twice a day. Both groups started treatment 3 days before menstruation and continued until 3rd day of period, and the treatment was 3 consecutive courses.Scores of VAS and CMSS,as well as serum levels of PGF2α and PGE2 were detected in the two groups. Results:The scores of VAS and CMSS,as well as the serum levels of PGF2α and PGE2 were significantly reduced after the treatment compared with those before the treatment in the two groups, and the reductions were more significant in the buccal acupuncture group than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Buccal acupuncture has a better analgesic effect than Ibuprofen Sustained-release Capsule in treatment of primary dysmenorrhea,it can alleviate the accompanying symptoms. The analgesic mechanism may be related to the level changes of PGF2αand PGE2.
