Effects of EA on Intestinal Flora in High-Fat Diet Induced Obese Mice
Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of electro-acupuncture(EA)on high-fat diet induced obese mice and to study its impact on intestinal flora in obese mice.Methods:12 mice were randomly selected as the blank control from 50 C57BL/6J mice, and were fed with normal diet;whereas the remaining 38 mice were fed with high-fat diet for 16 weeks. The successful modeling mice were randomly divided into the model group and the EA group. After 4 weeks of the treatment, body mass, fat weight, blood lipid levels and pathological changes of mice were evaluated to observe the therapeutic effect of EA on obese mice. The changes in mice microbiota were analyzed by using 16S rDNA high-throughput sequencing technology to explore the action mechanism of EA in treating obese mice. Results:Compared with those in the model group, the body mass, fat weight,TC,TG and LDL were significantly decreased in the EA group(P<0.01,P<0.05).EA significantly improved the pathological damages of obese mice. The detection of intestinal flora showed that after EA intervention, the number of gut microbiota in mice significantly increased. The abundance of Firmicutes in the gut microbiota of mice fed on a high-fat diet increased, whereas the abundance of Bacteroidetes decreased, and the proportion of Muribaculaceae_norank significantly increased(accounted for 30.74%).Conclusion:EA has a good therapeutic effect on obese mice,it can significantly reduce body mass, fat weight and blood lipid levels, improve pathological damages, and regulate intestinal flora in obese mice.
