Mechanism Research Progress on Acupuncture Therapy for Migraine
Migraine,as an episodic angioneurotic disease, not only seriously harms people's physical health, but also has a great impact on social medical economy.Acupuncture,as a safe and effective treatment measure, has been proved to be effective in preventing and relieving acute attack of migraine by many clinical and animal experiments. However, the mechanism of acupuncture in treating migraine is not fully understood. At present, there are three mainstream theories about the occurrence of migraine, which are angiogenic theory, neurogenic theory and trigeminal neurovascular theory. The literature on acupuncture treatment for migraine in recent 10 years showed that acupuncture might relieve pain by reducing nerve inflammation, reducing neuronal sensitization, regulating brain functional network connectivity and so on.Exploring related mechanisms and proposing new research directions will help to lay a solid foundation for acupuncture treatment for migraine.
