Research Progress on Mechanism of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Improving Synaptic Plasticity in Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's disease(AD)is a neurodegenerative disease with memory,cognitive and emotional dysfunction as the main clinical manifestations.The improvement of memory and cognitive function is inseparable from neuronal synaptic plasticity.In recent years,some progresses have been made on the mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion regulating synaptic plasticity,improving spatial learning and memory ability,and improving memory and cognitive impairment in treatment of AD.This study reviewed the basic research progress of acupuncture and moxibustion in improving synaptic plasticity when treating AD.Acupuncture and moxibustion can improve synaptic plasticity and delay the occurrence and development of AD from the perspectives of dendritic spines,synaptic morphological structure,synapsis-related proteins,neurotransmitter expression,synaptic function enhancement,nerve cell adhesion molecules and energy metabolism.This study provided a theoretical basis for the practical application of acupuncture and moxibustion in prevention and treatment of AD.
