Clinical Study of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Guided by Soothing Liver and Regulating Shen in Treatment of Sudden Deafness
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with moxibustion guided by soothing Liver and regulating Shen in treatment of sudden deafness.Methods:68 patients diagnosed with sudden deafness were randomly divided into the observation group(n=34)and the control group(n=34).The control group was treated with conventional Western medications;on which basis, the observation group was also treated with acupuncture combined with moxibustion guided by soothing Liver and regulating Shen.Pure-tone audiometry hearing thresholds, the scores of tinnitus evaluation questionnaire(TEQ),Hamilton depression scale(HAMD)and Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)were observed before and after the treatment in the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 97.06%(33/34)in the observation group, which was higher than 73.52%(25/34)in the control group(P<0.05).The threshold of pure-tone audiometry hearing and the scores of TEQ,HAMD and HAMA were decreased after the treatment than those before the treatment in the two groups(P<0.05),and the decreases were more significant in the observation group than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of acupuncture and moxibustion guided by soothing Liver and regulating Shen can effectively treat intractable sudden deafness, significantly reducing the degree of hearing loss in patients, improving common accompanying symptoms, and possessing high clinical utility.
