Research Progress on Action Mechanism of Acupuncture in Preventing and Treating Vascular Dementia
VD is a cognitive dysfunction syndrome caused by cerebrovascular disease,and is currently considered the only possible type of dementia that can be prevented.Research has shown that acupuncture has a definite therapeutic effect on the prevention and treatment of VD,which can significantly improve patients'cognitive function,learning and memory abilities,and has the advantage of fewer side effects compared to oral medication.However,its action mechanism still needs to be explored.This study reviewed relevant literature on acupuncture for the prevention and treatment of VD in recent years,and it is found that acupuncture can treat VD through possible mechanisms including improving inflammatory response,oxidative stress,central cholinergic pathway disorders,and central nervous system excitatory toxicity.
