Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of'Three Dimensions and Five Methods'in treatment of refractory facial paralysis.Methods:40 patients with refractory facial paralysis were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, with 20 patients in each group. The treatment group was treated with'Three Dimensions and Five Methods',whereas the control group was intervened with placebo and conventional treatment. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks.Clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups. The changes in House-Brackmann facial nerve paralysis classification, facial disability index including physical function(FDIP)and social life function(FDIS),the distance between the upper and lower eyelids with eyes closed, and the difference of the angle of the mouth between the healthy side and the affected side and the distance of the anterior median plumb line were observed in the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 90.00%(18/20)in the treatment group, which was significantly higher than 60.00%(12/20)in the control group(P<0.05).The H-B score, the FDIS score, the distance between the upper and lower eyelids, and the difference between the healthy side and the affected side of the mouth angle and the anterior median plumb line distance were all reduced in the two groups after the treatment(P<0.05),and the reductions were more significant in the treatment group than those in the control group(P<0.05).The FDIP score was increased after the treatment than that before the treatment in the two groups(P<0.05),and the FDIP score was higher in the treatment group than that in the control group after the treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion:'Three Dimensions and Five Methods'can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of intractable peripheral facial paralysis,it can improve the facial nerve conduction function, and promote the recovery of facial muscle function, with a remarkable therapeutic effect.
