Research Progress on Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Treatment of Depressive Disorder Based on NF-κB Signaling Pathway
Depressive disorder,as a common mental disorder, seriously affects patients'quality of life and leads to serious consequences, including anxiety and depression.Nuclear transcription factor-κB(NF-κB)is an important nuclear transcription factor in cells of hippocampus. The signaling pathway mediated by it plays a key role in the onset and development of depression.Abnormal activation of this pathway leads to the over-expression of genes related to central nervous system inflammation and depression, thus promoting the development of depression.Researches have found that acupuncture can treat depression by regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway. It interferes with the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway and inhibits the inflammatory response, thereby repairing nerve damage and reducing the degree of depression. This study reviewed the mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion in treatment of depression and its regulatory effect on the NF-κB signaling pathway,it reviewed related acupuncture methods, discussed its clinical application prospects in treatment of depression.
