Research Progress of Acupuncture Promoting Cell Proliferation and Differentiation after SCI
The effective repair of neural deficits following spinal cord injury(SCI)remains a clinical challenge. With the advancement of stem cells and regenerative medicine, current cell therapies for SCI include promoting endogenous stem cells differentiation and transplanting neural stem cells, olfactory ensheathing cells and Schwann cells. However, each source of stem cells has its own limitations.Combining acupuncture and moxibustion therapy can directly regulate the proliferation and differentiation of endogenous neural stem cells, enhance the survival and migration of exogenous transplanted cells to the injury site, promote axon regeneration, and repair the microenvironment of secondary SCI.Future research should focus on standardizing parameters, precision in regeneration, and systematizing treatment protocols to promote the application and dissemination of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with cell transplantation methods in the therapeutic strategies for SCI.
