Exploring Mechanism of Acupuncture in Treating Emotional Disorders with Obesity through HPA Axis and Inflammatory Changes
Individuals with emotional disorders have an increased risk of obesity, and vice versa. This bidirectional relationship may share a common pathophysiological basis, that is the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis and inflammatory changes. As a non-pharmacological therapy, acupuncture has unique advantages in treating emotional disorders and obesity. This may be related to its ability to regulate the HPA axis, alter the body's stress state, modulate pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, and improve peripheral-central inflammatory responses. This study aims to explore the potential mechanisms of acupuncture in treating emotional disorders with obesity from these perspectives, providing new insights for developing clinical strategies.
