Exploring Acupuncture Treatment Experiences for Migraine through'Clearing,Draining,Regulating and Tonifying'Based on Theory of Turbidity and Toxicity
Migraine is a chronic vascular pulsatile headache that recurs,manifesting on one or both sides.ZHANG Suzhao,based on turbidity and toxicity theory of TCM master LI Diangui,treats migraine from the perspective of turbidity and toxicity,believing that migraine occurs due to turbidity and toxicity clouding the clear orifices and obstructing Brain collateral.The chronic and refractory nature of the disease is associated with the sticky and adhesive nature of turbidity and toxicity.Clinically,acupuncture method of resolving turbidity and dredging Du meridian is used,focusing on'clearing,draining,regulating and tonifying'to treat this condition.Acupoints along Du meridian are selected to clear and drain turbidity and toxicity with relayed needling,addressing the symptoms,while acupoints on Spleen and Stomach meridians are chosen,applying the nine-six reinforcing and reducing techniques to regulate and tonify Spleen and Stomach,treating the root cause.
