Influence of Stagnant Meridian Sinew Needling Technique Combined with Chinese Herbal Padding to Pain and Lumbar Function in Patients with LDH and Secondary Sciatica
Objective:To investigate the influence of stagnant meridian sinew needling technique combined with Chinese herbal padding to pain and lumbar function in patients with lumbar disc herniation(LDH)and secondary sciatica. Methods:A total of 104 patients with LDH and secondary sciatica were randomly divided into the control group and the study group, with 52 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Chinese herbal padding and conventional treatment;on which basis, the study group was also treated with stagnant meridian sinew needling technique. The clinical efficacy, pain degree(VAS,PPI,PRI),lumbar function, nerve conduction velocity and inflammatory indicators(MCP-1,IL-6,TNF-α)were compared between the two groups after 4 weeks of treatment. Results:After 4 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate was 94.23%(49/52)in the study group, which was significantly higher than 80.77%(42/52)in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of VAS,PPI and PRI were significantly decreased in the two groups after the treatment(P<0.05),and the scores in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of clinical signs, subjective symptoms and limitation of daily life and total function score of lumbar spine were significantly increased in the two groups after the treatment(P<0.05),and the scores of the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The sensory nerve conduction velocity and motor nerve conduction velocity were significantly improved in both groups after the treatment(P<0.05),and the nerve conduction velocities were significantly higher in the study group than those in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of MCP-1,IL-6 and TNF-α were declined obviously in both groups after the treatment(P<0.05),and the declines were more significant in the study group than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Stagnant meridian sinew needling technique combined with Chinese herbal padding can effectively relieve the pain degree of LDH and secondary sciatica, improve lumbar function, inhibit inflammatory response, and improve nerve conduction velocity, with significant efficacy.
