A Preliminary Discussion on Acupuncture Treatment for SSNHL Based on Three-Dimensional Five Methods
Sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL)is a challenging type of acute sensorineural hearing loss in neurology, classified under the TCM categories of sudden deafness and Qi deafness. The pathology is located in the ear and the Shaoyang meridian, with a progression pattern characterized by Qi stagnation and blood stasis, which, over time, leads to a condition of deficiency in the root and excess in the manifestations. The three-dimensional five methods,an innovative therapy from the Longjiang school of evidence-based acupuncture, integrates multiple traditional techniques by focusing on acupuncture points, meridians and sinews. It combines therapies such as Guasha, cupping, acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal medicine. This approach is based on a three-dimensional perspective involving the head, lungs and ears, coupled with five key methods, including repeated cranial acupuncture stimulation therapy,Zhatiao therapy(needling with stimulating movements),the triple three needling technique, the Lung orifice opening methods, and Shaoyang meridian isolation needling.Under the framework of Western medicine's clear diagnosis of SSNHL,this method employs multidimensional pattern differentiation and coordinated multi-modal interventions to treat SSNHL accompanied by symptoms such as vertigo, tinnitus, nausea, vomiting, depression and sleep disorders.By combining symptom-targeted and holistic regulation, this integrative treatment approach aims to restore balance, target the underlying causes of disease, and enhance the efficacy of TCM in treating complex and refractory conditions.
