The Modern Tension of Adult Education and Its Mediation:Based on the Perspective of Social Acceleration Critique Theory
Under the influence of fast-paced globalization,acceleration has become an important characteristic of modern society.The operational logic of social acceleration drives the development of adult education but also gives rise to modernity-related issues such as distorted values perception,limited development space,and the spread of utilitarian tendencies in adult education.From the perspective of social acceleration critique theory,these issues can be seen as symptoms of uncertainty,desynchronization,and value alienation in adult education.Along with the development of educational modernization,the driving force of the accelerated society contradicts the driving force for high-quality development,leading adult education into a triple tension characterized by inaction and being,unidirectional supply and diversified demand,and unqualified acceleration and high-quality growth.Therefore,efforts can be made to mediate the modern tension of adult education by constructing a resonance space for the interaction of adult education elements,exploring practical paradigms that lead to high-quality growth in the post-growth society,and establishing the value orientation of adult education towards realizing a better life.
