Reflections on the Practice of Social Organizations'Participation in Elderly Education from the Perspective of Inclusiveness
With the intensification of China's aging population, vigorously developing elderly education has become an important national strategy.Elderly education,as a livelihood project,is crucial to the quality of life and rights protection of the elderly. It requires implementing the concept of inclusiveness, making inclusiveness the primary goal integrated into elderly education practices.Historically, elderly education in China has been predominantly driven from the top-down by the government, resulting in inefficient supply and unmet educational needs among the elderly. In contrast, the participation of social organizations in elderly education represents a bottom-up expansion of supply, ensuring that more elderly individuals can continue learning.Within the framework of inclusiveness, four models of social organization participation in elderly education have emerged in China:government-led,independently operated,co-learning and eldercare, and market-integrated.However,various practical challenges have arisen during development, including regulatory and policy constraints, facility and funding issues, awareness of participation, and service level and quality concerns. Therefore, strategies to further promote social organizations'participation in elderly education within an inclusive framework are proposed:refining regulations and policies, expanding institutional space, providing support for venue facilities, establishing foundational locations, increasing funding support, ensuring effective operation, optimizing promotional approaches, stimulating participation enthusiasm;standardizing management, enhancing service levels and quality.
