Study on the Coupling and Coordinated Effect of Higher Vocational Education and Common Prosperity:An Empirical Analysis Based on Panel Data from Thirty Provinces(Cities and Municipalities)
In the solid advancement towards common prosperity, higher vocational education plays a fundamental and pioneering role.Promoting the coordinated development of higher vocational education with high quality and common prosperity is an inevitable requirement in the new era.By constructing an evaluation index system for the coupling coordination of higher vocational education and common prosperity, empirical tests are conducted using provincial panel data from China from 2011 to 2020.The study finds that China's higher vocational education lags behind the development of common prosperity, and the coupling coordination of the two systems continues to improve with spatial heterogeneity. There is a positive spatial autocorrelation in the coupling coordination between higher vocational education and common prosperity, but the autocorrelation level shows a fluctuating downward trend, and spatial agglomeration is gradually weakening. The coupling coordination between higher vocational education and common prosperity is influenced by various factors such as government, market, and openness, and the degree of influence presents the characteristics of the level of marketization>degree of government support>degree of openness>level of economic development. To enhance coupling coordination, efforts should be made to seek symbiotic development and create a community of interests between vocational education and common prosperity. Then,it needs to improve the development level of higher vocational education, shifting from lagging development to moderately advanced development. What's more,it requires to coordinate overall development, unleashing spatial spillover effects. Finally,it is necessary to construct a scientific index system, strengthening monitoring and evaluation work.
