Mismatch and Adaptation:Transformation and Development of Senior Universities from the Perspective of Social Space Theory
Senior universities,as practical carriers serving the lifelong learning needs of the elderly community, hold significant importance in exploring their transformation and development against the backdrop of practicing an active concept of aging and innovating in geriatric education. An analysis based on social space theory reveals that contemporary senior universities are facing problems of mismatch, including the narrow understanding of material space, passive production of social space, and deviated expectations in spiritual space. To promote the innovative development of senior universities,it is recommended to enhance the spatial adaptability of these institutions by providing intelligent learning support and optimizing the learning experience in the material space;implementing diversified mutual aid projects and constructing new types of social relationships in the social space;and facilitating the realization of personal values and better integration into society in the spiritual space.
