How can Higher Vocational Education Empower the Construction of A Powerful Country in Education?:An Analysis through the Perspective of Institutional Logics
It is of great significance to answer the question how higher vocational education empowers building China into a strong educational system in all aspects,including higher vocational education,and building China into a great modern socialist country through higher vocational education.Based on the theory of institutional logic and the quality reports from the past five years of all ten high-level A-class higher vocational colleges under the High-level Vocational Colleges and Majors with Chinese Characteristics Construction Plan(referred to as Double High-level Plan),a multiple logic analysis framework is developed.This framework focuses on how higher vocational education empowers the construction of education power,encompassing state-led initiatives,industry-education integration,and teacher empowerment.Through the lens,the ways higher vocational colleges use institutional logic to empower the construction of education power is examined.The study finds that the core experience of higher vocational college in promoting higher vocational education to empower the construction of education power is to combine multiple institutional logic to form a synergy,to implement and reproduce the institutional logic advocated by the government,and to produce the institutional logic of the college field.These institutional logics,as a reference framework for decision-making in the construction of education power through higher vocational education,need to be perfected.In the state-led logic,the supply of institutions reflecting the higher nature of higher vocational education should be accelerated.In the integration of industry and education logic,more attention should be paid to enhancing the ability to meet market needs while avoiding market de-embeddedness.Additionally,in the logic of teacher empowerment,the professional logic of higher vocational education teachers should be differentiated.Furthermore,with changes in the institutional environment,new institutional logics may emerge.
