Exploration on the Construction of Vocational Discipline Types and the Development Paths
Vocational discipline is a discipline type as important as basic and applied disciplines.It is an emerging independent discipline that manifests the characteristics of vocational education.Along with the high-quality development of vocational education,the construction of vocational disciplines and their development have become major disciplinary theory and practice innovation issues related to the high-quality development of modern vocational education.The so-called vocational discipline refers to disciplines formed through the study of professions,aimed at fostering the growth and success of professionals.It encompasses a systematic integration of specific job knowledge,disciplinary knowledge,and vocational knowledge based on occupational roles.This is a key subject area for vocational skill-oriented institutions,characterized by cross-boundary growth,composite intersection,and coordinated integration.The establishment of vocational disciplines opens up a new pathway for the construction and development of the modern vocational education system,representing an original innovation in the theoretical framework of vocational education and serving as a marker for the typological development of vocational education.Compared to basic and applied disciplines,vocational discipline knowledge is interdependent with both basic and applied discipline knowledge,while exhibiting differences in knowledge division standards,cognitive complexity,philosophical foundations,research focuses and missions,talent training priorities,and organizational forms.The construction of vocational discipline types should address the shortcomings of vocational education disciplines.It should also establish the ecological niche of vocational education types and optimize the positioning of vocational education types,all based on the knowledge attributes of vocational disciplines and the resulting educational reforms in concepts,teaching organization,and teaching models.At the same time,a theoretical development system for vocational disciplines should be constructed based on the intrinsic logic of these disciplines.Additionally,it calls for the formulation of development standards for vocational discipline types,leveraging the demonstrative and guiding role of vocational bachelor's institutions,and promoting an integrated development path between disciplines and programs.
