Teacher professional competence is the core of teacher abilities and the foundation for improving the high-quality development of vocational education.Through interviews and task analysis with forty-five professional teachers from five focus groups in four provinces nationwide,it finds that professional competence standards of higher vocational teachers mainly include seven dimensions. These dimensions include professional construction, curriculum construction, instructional design, teaching implementation, teaching and scientific research, social services, and professional development. This results in a total of forty-five competency modules and 163 competency requirements. The development of the professional competence standards reflects three basic characteristics:it is work-oriented in depicting the trajectory of professional development for higher vocational teachers,capacity-based in deeply understanding the professional competence of teachers, and regulation-based in positioning the development-oriented function of the standards. In the formulation of future standards,it is necessary to effectively distinguish the structural levels of teacher standards based on task analysis, accurately target the functional role of teacher standards based on value orientation, and develop a supporting system for teacher standards based on the effective implementation of standards.
