Study on Adapted Tree Species for Coastal Shelter Forest in Silt Coast of Taizhou Gulf
Determinations were carried out for 12 years on preservation rate, dynamic of salt content change in soil, growth adaptability, wind-resistance, salt tolerance, etc. of 19 tree species for coastal shelter forest in silt coast of Taizhou gulf, Zhejiang province. The result demonstrated that Casuarina equisetifolia, Tamarix chinensis, Ligustrum sinense, Nerium indicum, Hibiscus hamabo and H. mutabilis was recommended for planting within dike in silt coast with salt content below 0.8% in Zhejiang province, while Sabina chinensis, Viburnum odoratissinum, Pittosporum tobira, Taxodium distichum ×T. mucronaturm, P. elliottii, Zelkova schneideriana and Bischofiapofycarpa was recommended for that with salt content below 0.3%. Eucalyptus spp. Has advantage of fast growing, but with low wind-resistance, was not a tree species for planting in the coast. Techniques for plantation were offered such as opening furrow, with container seedlings.
