Horizontal gene transfer(HGT),refers to the transfer of genetic material across species by means other than fertilization,is different from sexual reproduction inheritance.It is an important source of prokaryotic and eu-karyotic genome composition and plays an important role in promoting biological evolution.In recent years,with the development of genome sequencing technology,it is further proved that there are a large number of HGT events a-mong plants.This paper mainly reviewed the ways and classification of HGT between plants,as well as the applica-tion potential of HGT in agriculture,and put forward prospects for the problems in the current research,the future basic theoretical research and the direction of utilization.
