Studies on Transgenic Rice to Interfere with Brown Planthopper Sugar Transporter Protein Gene 6
Brown planthopper(BPH)is an important pest to rice, which has caused serious damage to rice production. The sugar transporter protein gene 6(Nlst6),which has an important effect on the growth and development of BPH,was selected as the target gene to construct the RNAi vector expressing dsRNA of the target gene,to screen transgenic rice materials cultivated through agrobacterium infection and transformation expressing dsRNA and siRNA of the target gene. After feeding on transgenic rice, the transcription level of the target gene in brown planthopper was significantly reduced, female fertility and the weight of offspring nymphs were significantly decreased, but no lethal phenotype appeared. In conclusion,it is possible to control BPH by breeding transgenic rice to interfere with the growth and development of BPH,which provides a basis for the subsequent cultivation of transgenic rice resistant to BPH.
