Research Progress on the Effects of Root Exudates on Nitrogen Uptake and Utilization in Rice
As an essential nutrient element for plant growth and development, the effective uptake and utilization of nitrogen is crucial for improving rice yield and resource use efficiency as well as environmental protection.Root exudates refer to a general term for compounds released by plant roots into the surroundings while absorbing water and nutrients. These exudates have a rhizosphere effect in the soil, which is closely related to the uptake and utilization of nitrogen by plants. The types, functions and production pathways of rice root exudates were summarized. The roles of soil rhizosphere environment and microbial community structure and composition in nitrogen uptake and utilization, and the impacts of major root exudates on nitrogen uptake and utilization were analyzed. The existing problems were pointed out and the future research was prospected.
