Breeding and Application of High-quality Aromatic Indica-japonica Restorer Line R8688 in Rice
R8688,derived from the cross of indica restorer line Shuhui 527 with good grain quality and high combining ability as the female parent and the japonica restorer line Jing 187 with good grain quality and high resistance as the male parent,is an indica-japonica restorer line with strong lodging resistance,high combining ability and good grain quality with fragrance.Several new hybrid rice combinations were developed by using R8688 as a restorer line,among which Wanxiangyou 8688,Changxiangyou 8688,Shengxiangyou 8688,Wenxiangyou 8688,Junxiangyou 8688 and Teyou 8688 were registered and released to commercial production by Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Crop Variety Appraisal Committee.The breeding process,characteristics and application of R8688 were summarized.
