In the 1930s,the authorities clamped down on left-wing literature more and more strictly. As a fashionable pure literature magazine,"Modern(1932)"(up to the 6th issue of the 5th volume),which claimed to take the"middle line",published many proletarian artistic works and theories, reflecting the latest development of proletarian art in China at that time.At least seven people participated in and in-fluenced the editorial work of Modern. They were different in literary ideas, political position and the in-terest orientation of the magazine.Moreover,left-wing literary theory did not form a complete and stable framework at that time. Thus, under the superposition of cultural value, political orientation, economic interests and theoretical development, the editor selection of Modern presents a unique left-wing literary landscape.
