With the vigorous development of the commodity economy in the late Ming Dynasty,the in-creasingly prosperous urban life becomes a symbol of the late Ming society.The economy of Jiangnan has entered a period of high growth,and the citizen class also develops gradually.The urbanization process has been accelerated,and literature nurtured in this prosperous environment also presents distinct characteris-tics of the times and the region.The late Ming essayists construct a real and concrete image of the urban"Jiangnan"for us,depicting the lifestyle of the scholars in Jiangnan and outlining the urban people's enter-tainments.At the same time,this process also exposes the decadent and refined side of"Jiangnan".Behind the prosperity and luxury of Jiangnan is actually the display of human's subjectivity and the free expres-sion of emotions,reflecting a poetic wisdom of life.
