The call for the subjectivity of Chinese social sciences entails transforming China from a research object into the research subject, which is essential for breaking the hegemony of Western social science knowledge and developing philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. This paper summarizes and in-tegrates existing discourses on the subjectivity of Chinese social sciences from the perspectives of fundamen-tal motivations and theoretical resources, categorizing them into two strategies:historical subjectivity and cultural subjectivity. The former expresses dissatisfaction with Western theoretical frameworks, such as the traditional/modern dichotomy, which oversimplify China's complex history and practical experiences. The latter critiques the cultural assumptions behind Western social theories, which often distort Chinese society and cultural traditions. Moreover, this paper seeks to transcend these two strategies of subjectivity by pro-posing a third:the strategy of civilization subjectivity.Rooted in Modern Chinese Civilization, this approach aims to provide a theoretical narrative of Chinese modernization.
