Poetic History and Memory:A Study of Animal Images in Theo Angelopoulos'Films
Theo Angelopoulos excels in using poetic film language to focus on Greece history and national memories in his works.Among the 13 films he created throughout his life,12 of them featured animal imagery,including hor-ses,dogs,birds,seagulls,swans,chickens,and many other animals.Therefore,animals have become one of the important camera elements in Angelopoulos films.By analyzing and studying the animal images in his films,we can better understand Angelopoulos's thinking and expression of Greece history and memory in a poetic context,thus o-pening a window for in-depth study of his film world.
