Research on the Ancestral Hall Theater of the Shao Clan in Longyou County and Its Opera Sculptures
Academic research on theatrical literature and artifacts has primarily focused on northern regions,with limited attention to southern theaters,despite significant differences between Jiangnan and northern theaters during the Ming and Qing dynasties.This study focuses on Longyou County of Zhejiang Province,employing the dual evi-dence method through literature review and field research of the Shao clan's ancestral hall.Using newly discovered materials,it traces the developmental trajectory of local ancestral hall landscapes.Integrating interdisciplinary methods from history and architecture,this study systematically analyzes the Shao ancestral hall's architectural histo-ry,form,wooden decorations and associated rituals.It explores the theatrical culture embedded in local ancestral hall theaters and opera sculptures,addressing gaps in the study of theatrical artifacts.
