Study on the Characteristics of Modern Literature Book Cover Design from the Late Qing Dynasty to the May Fourth Movement
Since the late Qing Dynasty,with the introduction of western printing technology and design concepts into China,the role of book covers has gradually attracted people's attention,and people have a new understanding of the function of book covers.The innovation of printing technology gives birth to more possibilities of cover design,which effectively improves the situation limited by technical conditions in the past.At the same time,the concept innovation brought by foreign culture breaks the long-formed thinking solidification and brings"spring"to cover design of liter-ary books.From then on,the characteristics of book-binding,such as open book,casement,layout,illustration,paper use and the choice of binding methods,have gradually become scientific,modern and diversified.After the rise of the May Fourth Movement,the ideological communication function of modern literary book covers has gradually at-tracted the attention of designers,writers and readers.
