Application of clinical competency-oriented teaching film-reading in standardized training of radiology residents
Objective To explore the application effects of teaching film-reading with imaging signs as the theme and clinical competence as the guide. Methods Fifty-one resident trainees who were receiving training in the Department of Radiology,The Second Affliated Hospital,Zhejiang University School of Medicine from September 2019 to September 2022 were included. To simulate actual clinical work, teaching film-reading was organized based on clinical scenarios, with imaging signs as the theme(such as pulmonary consolidation);all resident trainees participated in the interpretation and analysis of imaging manifestations. After 10 teaching film-reading,anonymous questionnaire was used to assess the satisfaction of teaching film-reading.The questionnaire consisted of 5 sub-items,including"close to daily clinical work","reflecting the principle of hierarchical and graded teaching","contribution to mastering imaging theoretical knowledge","contribution to enhancing imaging diagnostic skills",and"willingness to continue participating in this form of teaching film-reading".Statistical methods were used to analyze the relationships between satisfaction scores and resident trainees'gender, age, grade, type and educational level. Results The satisfaction score in each questionnaire item and total satisfaction score were high among resident trainees of different genders, grades and types, and the scores showed no significant differences in gender, grade and type(all P>0.05).The satisfaction score in the questionnaire item of"willingness to continue participating in this form of teaching film-reading"and total satisfaction score all exhibited significant differences among resident trainees of different educational levels(all P<0.05).The scores in resident trainees with master's degree and doctor's degree were higher than those in resident trainees with bachelor's degree. The total satisfaction score was positively correlated with age(r = 0.366,P = 0.008)and educational level(r = 0.422,P = 0.002).Conclusions Radiology resident trainees have a high satisfaction with clinical competency-oriented teaching film-reading.However,further studies still need to pay attention to stratified and graded teaching based on different ages and educational levels.
