Development and Current Situation of Quasi-optical Waveguide Gyro-TWTs
Gyrotron traveling wave tubes(Gyro-TWTs)based on electron cyclotron maser(ECM)mechanism have the advantages of high output power and broad bandwidth,and have extremely broad ap-plication space in electronic information field.With the increase of the operating frequency,due to the scale effect,the cross-sectional size of high-frequency structures operating in low-order modes gradually decreases,resulting in a decrease in the power capacity of the devices.By using quasi-optical waveguide with mode selection characteristics as the high-frequency interaction structure,stable operation of gyro-TWTs in high-order mode states can be achieved,thereby the amplifier can be extended to higher frequen-cy range and higher power output can be achieved.The development status and the problems of quasi-opti-cal gyro-TWTs are reviewed and the latest research trends are simply introduced.
