The development process and application of an S-band high-power broadband pulsed traveling wave tube are introduced.The working bandwidth of the tube is 2-4 GHz(one octave band),the pulse output power is greater than 6kW,the efficiency is greater than 35%,the maximum working ratio is 6%,and the second har-monic ratio is less than-3 dBc.Performance design analysis is conducted,and multiple key technologies are adopted to solve technical difficulties such as backflow oscillation suppressing,high conductivity electron gun designing,and focusing system designing.Actual test results of the tube are provided.
