At a time when the Left is lost,Badiou puts forward"the Communist Hypothesis",examines its history,and points out that the urgent problem now is to discover one among the new forms of organizations and actions in which"the Communist Hypothesis"presents itself,hence ushering a new sequences of"the Communist Hypothesis".This new way is the politics of subtraction that Badiou advocates.Its core is to distance itself from the state,and its essence is,for Badiou himself,a new expedition in the Paul Celan sense but,eventually,a Messianic craze.
