Characteristic Analysis of Right-turning Vehicles Yielding to Pedestrians at Two-phase Signalized Intersections
In order to improve the traffic safety of right-turning vehicles and pedestrians at two-phase signalized intersections, yield intention model based on multivariate ordered logistic model is developed to seek the factors affecting the intention of right-turning vehicles yielding to pedestrians.Based on whether the existing research factors have an impact on yield behavior of right-turning vehicles, manners of right-turning vehicles are further subdivided into"soft yield"and"hard yield",with three yield degrees of"non yield, hard yield, and soft yield"as dependent variables, and 12 factors are selected as independent variables. In order to analyze the differences of different factors on the intention of right-turning vehicles yielding to pedestrians, the odds ratio k of the independent variables in yield model is constructed. The results show that the k value of factors such as the speed of right-turning vehicle, the length of crosswalk, and the scale of pedestrian is greater than 1,indicating that these factors increase the intention of right-turning vehicles to actively implement yield to pedestrians, and pedestrians walking on the 11~20 m crosswalk will impel right-turning vehicles to stop and yield to pedestrians to the greatest extent.
