Communication Geography:Basic Categories,Interdisciplinary Logic,and Problem Domain
The"cultural turn"in human geography and the"spatial turn"in communication studies have led to the emergence of communication geography.As an emerging interdisciplinary field,media,space,and their in-teraction can be regarded as the theoretical starting point and core category of communication geography research.When media is understood as a medium,conduit and relationship,and space is understood as entity,practice and social relations,the materiality,representational narratives and relational construction become the internal driving forces that bridge communication and geography.Space gives rise to place,media gives rise to landscape,and the delineation of media,space,landscape and place defines the basic domain of communication geography research:media in space and space in media,landscape in space and space in landscape,media in place and place in media,landscape in place and place in landscape,forming the main quadrants of communication geography re-search.
