Effect of Banxia Xiexin decoction on spleen purging based on"Tang-ye-jing-fa map"in Fuxingjue
Banxia Xiexin decoction is a classic formula in Zhang Zhongjing's"Shanghanlun"for epigastric fullness. It is mainly used in clinical practice for spleen and stomach diseases such as epigastric fullness, nausea and vomiting, and diarrhea. The therapy is effective and still in use today.In"Tang-ye-jing-fa map",although this type of formula is called Xiexin decoction, its efficacy is not to purge the heart fire, but mainly the spleen, which was discussed in this paper. In terms of compatibility,Banxia Xiexin decoction consists of pungent, sweet, and bitter herbs, which conforms to the drug use principles in"Tang-ye-jing-fa map"for pungent flavor purging the spleen, sweet flavor tonifying the spleen, and bitter flavor drying the spleen. Its indications belonged to the category of spleen syndrome.Throughout history, many doctors often interpreted'heart'as below the heart in terms of disease location and used it for epigastric fullness. In both ancient and modern clinical applications,Banxia Xiexin decoction and other formulas are mostly used for the spleen and stomach diseases. Finally, through quantitative analysis of the formula,we once again clarified its tonifying and reducing effects on the spleen and stomach diseases, analyzed the principles of its addition and subtraction compatibility, aiming to provide academic support for the substantive research and clinical rational use of Banxia Xiexin decoction.
