Pharmaceutical care for one patient with paralysis based on"Tang-ye-jing-fa map"in Fuxingjue
"Tang-ye-jing-fa map"in the Fuxingjue displays a syndrome differentiation and treatment system based on the deficiency or excessiveness of five major organs together with five major flavors.It reflects the fundamental principles of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)formula compatibility and can be used for the review of TCM decoction prescriptions and clinical pharmacist consultations.This article reported a case of TCM clinical pharmacists using the"Tang-ye-jing-fa map"to conduct pharmaceutical intervention.An elderly woman,with repeated lower back pain for more than 5 years,aggravated with numbness in the right lower limb for 2 months was hospitalized.The doctor asked pharmacist to join the consultation with the help of"Tang-ye-jing-fa map".The pharmacist determined that the main problem of the patient was liver deficiency plus kidney deficiency based on"Tang-ye-jing-fa map"theoretical system.The prescription should focus on tonifing the liver and the kidney,with medicinal flavor being mainly bitter and pungent,supplemented by sour and sweet.Pharmacists and physicians jointly worked out a decoction prescription.The patient showed satisfactory treatment effect after taking the medication,and the follow-up was also satisfactory.It is feasible and effective for clinical pharmacists to use"Tang-ye-jing-fa map"in pharmaceutical intervention of TCM decoction prescriptions.
