Effect of 5 phytohormones on the germination of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn seeds
Objective To determine the effect of 5 phytohormones[growth hormone auxin(IAA),cytokinin(6-BA),gibberellin(GA3),abscisic acid(ABA)and ethylene(ET)]on seed germination of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn seeds was studied. Methods The experiment was conducted with Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn seeds produced in Ningguo and left at room temperature for 12 months.Five different phytohormones were prepared with 4 gradient concentrations(1×10-1,1×10-2,1×10-3,and 1 × 10-4 mg·mL-1),and the seeds of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn were imbibed.Changes in germination rate, root length and fresh weight of seeds in petri dish germination experiments were compared. Results Over a range of 4 gradients,6-BA overally inhibited the growth of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn seeds. In contrast, both GA3 and ET at high concentrations(1×10-1 mg·mL-1 and 1× 10-2 mg·mL-1),and ABA and IAA at low concentrations(1×10-3 mg·mL-1 and 1 × 10-4 mg·mL-1)at promoted the germination rate, root length, and fresh weight of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn seeds. Conclusion Phytohormones show different effects on the growth and development of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn seeds.ET at(1× 10-2 mg·mL-1)shows the most obvious effect on the growth and development of Peucedanum praeruptorum Dunn seeds, reaching high germination rate, maximum root length and fresh weight.
